Understanding the Resume Layout
Of course you already know that the contents of the resume are very important. This is the primary reason why many applicants are modifying their resume’s contents to better attract employers. For these contents lies the very chance of the applicant’s future with the company. However, even before the employer will see the contents of your professional resume, the first thing that will splash on his eyes is the resume layout. Any forms of layout in a document targets the first visual impression of the seer so it is really important that you pay attention to this aspect of your CV.
There are no strict rules as to what resume layout you should apply to your document. In addition to this, there are no real layout characteristics that can help you increase your chances of getting hired because each employer has its own preference and interpretations of the applicants’ character. But in order to make your document more attractive, here are some layout tips that you can apply:
- Make sure that you have a visually comfortable margin in all direction of the pages. Half inch margins are widely used.
- Apply spacing between the sections that you want to separate.
- Always remember to use a consistent type of heading style. For example if you will use capital letters for the Education Background section, make sure that you also apply this to the Work Experience heading.
- Be consistent with the font style that you will use all throughout the resume.
- The proper resume number of pages should be minimal. Avoid writing your resume more than two pages.
