How to Make a Cover Letter
Many times we are faced with the dilemmas of writing a good resume and cover letter. But sometimes, no matter how hard we force ourselves to write a professional resume it seems that our efforts are still not enough. Now, if you are still lost about how to make a cover letter, we will have some discussions about it to help you land on a good job opportunity.
First of all, the cover letter should answer to the question “Why should I hire you?” This is the guiding principle for you so that you will always make it a point to write only the best about yourself and write them in the best of your abilities. Here are the basic details on how to make a cover letter.
The upper portion of your file should include your address. Remember that you should not put your name in that space along with your address profile. The block of address details should be written at the upper left hand coroner of the cover letter. Under that profile, put the current date. The next block should contain the employer’s name. If you do not have one, search for it. Put also his or her title position in the company, the company’s name and the address. Over all, the format of your cover letters should look something like this:
ADDRESS (No names)
Date
Name of the hiring personnel/employer
Position or Title
Company Name
Address
Of course you need to also provide a casual greeting like “Dear Mr. Employer (put his name).” Afterward, proceed writing your paragraphs for the entire letter. The first paragraphs should already contain why you are writing to him/them. This should include also your personal goal. Also, immediately mention to the employer what position you are vying for. The second paragraph should include the “why I am qualified” details. Include your personal achievements, work experiences and educational background. Competencies in resume writing is also important. Lastly, the third paragraph should be a little short. Simply refer the employer to the enclosed resume or even provide details how you can be contacted should an invitation for interview will be considered for you to attend.
